In 1992, Equiflor partnered with the finest tissue culture carnation laboratory in Colombia. Our objective was simple: to consistently produce a visibly superior carnation for the U.S. market. Today, we are proud to say that we accomplished this objective with Rio brand carnations.

Our farms plant only those varieties yielding the thickest and strongest stems with the most vibrant colors. Each plant is nurtured using the best practices and harvested when the timing is right. Our growers follow exact parameters for pre- and post- harvest care, quality, color assortment, presentation and consistency. Each and every carnation meets over 20 separate quality specifications before being packed within a Rio Carnations box.

• Blooms are cut open at 80% - "Open Cut” allows for immediate use of the flowers, and provides a larger flower diameter with better opening characteristics.
• Consistent bloom size and cut in each bunch.
